What Is Screen Printing?

The Classic Decoration
Technique Perfected

Screen printing pushes ink through a fine mesh screen directly onto the fabric surface one colour at a time. Each colour in your design requires a separate screen, making it the most cost-effective method for bold, multi-colour designs on medium to large volume orders. The result is a thick, opaque, long-lasting print that holds its colour brilliance through dozens of washes.

🎨

Rich, Opaque Colour

Ink is deposited in a thick layer colours appear vivid and opaque even on dark fabrics without a white base bleeding through.

💪

Exceptional Durability

Plastisol and water-based inks cure directly into the fabric fibres resistant to cracking, fading, and peeling for the garment’s lifetime.

💰

Cost-Effective at Volume

Setup cost per screen is fixed making screen printing increasingly economical as order quantities increase.

How It Works

Our Screen Printing Process

From your artwork file to printed, finished garment a precise process at every step.

1
Step 01

Artwork Preparation & Colour Separation

Your design file is prepared and separated into individual colour layers each colour becomes a separate screen. We ensure clean separations, sharp edges, and correct Pantone colour references before screen production begins.

2
Step 02

Screen Production

A mesh screen is coated with light-sensitive emulsion and exposed to your artwork film hardening the emulsion everywhere except your design area. The unexposed emulsion is washed away, leaving a precise ink-passing stencil.

3
Step 03

Print Strike-Off & Colour Approval

A test print (strike-off) is produced on the actual fabric before bulk printing begins. You review colour accuracy and placement we adjust and reprint until you are fully satisfied before proceeding to bulk.

4
Step 04

Bulk Screen Printing

Garments are loaded onto the printing carousel ink is pushed through each screen in precise registration sequence. Each colour is printed and flash-cured before the next colour is applied, ensuring clean, sharp results.

5
Step 05

Curing & Quality Inspection

All printed garments pass through a conveyor dryer curing the ink at the correct temperature to achieve maximum wash-fastness and durability. Every piece is inspected for print quality before moving to finishing and packing.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our screen printing service.

What is the minimum order for screen printing?+
Our minimum order quantity for screen printing is 100 pieces per design. This accounts for screen setup costs and makes the per-unit print cost economical. Contact us for pricing at different quantity levels.
How many colours can you print?+
We can print designs with 1 to 8+ spot colours. Each colour requires a separate screen. For designs with many colours, CMYK halftone process printing may be a more economical option ask our team for advice on your specific design.
What file format should I send my artwork?+
Vector files (AI or SVG) are ideal for screen printing as they allow clean colour separation. High-resolution PNG or PDF files at 300 DPI minimum are also accepted. Include Pantone colour references for accurate colour matching.
Can you print on dark-coloured garments?+
Yes. For dark fabrics, we apply an opaque white base layer first, then print the design colours on top. This ensures colours appear vivid and accurate on black, navy, and other dark garments.
How wash-resistant is screen printing?+
Properly cured screen printing is extremely durable resistant to fading, cracking, and peeling through 50+ washes when cared for correctly. Plastisol inks provide the highest durability; water-based inks offer a softer feel with excellent wash-fastness.
Can screen printing be combined with other decoration methods?+
Yes. Screen printing can be combined with embroidery, heat transfer, or puff printing on the same garment for example, a screen-printed chest logo combined with an embroidered cap badge. Contact us to discuss your specific combination requirements.
